APWU NYS Education Conference

The APWU NYS Education Conference was just held in Syracuse on May 23rd through May 25th. Many of our Rochester Union Officials were in attendance. These officials attended classroom sessions covering a variety of very important topics. This educations is needed to better understand and process grievances and questions for our members. Some of these topics covered were reversions and excessing, OWCP, discipline, TACS, and grievance processing for Maintenance and Motor Vehicle crafts. These classes were taught by national business agents with extensive knowledge and experience in these subjects.

It was a very busy schedule at the Downtown Syracuse Marriott. For those 3 days, Union Leaders from all over NYS assembled in the facility with common problems amongst them. The USPS is attacking us on multiple fronts and we must do everything we can to fight each battle the best we are able to. They are attacking work hours in the clerk craft in both large offices and small stations.

It has been witnessed that bids are being reverted without proper Union notification in our area. If you see any notice of intent to change or revert a bid, please notify your respective Steward. Our people need to continue notifying their representatives in a timely manner so that these issues can be addressed as soon as humanly possible, especially since we may not be aware of any notices to change or revert a bid.

In the end, Syracuse Union President, Nicole Burnett, along with all of her Local Steward Officials were terrific hosts. They are well deserving of our gratitude for planning and facilitating this successful educational conference.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to your Local Representatives.
